Smart phone = dumber person

Since I got my smart phone it seems that I've been forgetting things more than ever.
I've been blaming it on age.
Saying that I'm just a multi-tasker.
Pointing out that its because I'm managing the schedule for our family 'o 4.
Even asking my husband if he things I'm getting early on-set Alzheimers.
Wondering if my coffee should be caffeinated instead of decaf?

It's beginning to worry me.
But I had an ah-ha moment, just like Oprah says.
Even though it wasn't the type of ah-ha moment she talks about.

Here we go...
My ah-ha moment made me realize that since I got my
smart phone - it's made me dumber.

The research shows...

I'll check out my email from my smart phone while waiting for my girls to get out of dance.
Then, when I get home and see my emails again - I mentally say "that's taken care of"....
but I'm forgetting important stuff,
not writing down dates in my calendar,
forgetting to complete necessary paperwork,
etc.

The diagnosis...

YIKES - slow down - PaY aTtEnTiOn - stay focused - stop being so dumb
You got the picture.

The treatment...

I'm turning over a new leaf with my smart phone.
It will become my best friend, my scheduler, my note taker, my weather checker, my googler, my navigator.
It's obviously called a smart phone for a reason.
The person just has to be smart enough to use it!

  1. This is probably why I don't have one! I'm afraid I will become more spacey than I already am! Good luck to you!

  2. That picture is FANTASTIC! So funny! I still have to use an organizer and a pencil. Archaic? Yes! But, I am not smart enough for the smart phone. I can hardly keep track of text messages and emails on my blackberry!

  4. You go girl. I can see how it could help things slip thru the cracks. I just have a mildly intelligent phone (blackberry), which suits me well. :)

  7. Slow down, pay attention...that's the key (not that I adhere to that rule myself, but still, it's the key!). I'm an old-fashioned pen and planner girl...and I still forget way more now than I used to!

  8. Don't be too hard on yourself... it's so easy to forget when you check your email somewhere out of the ordinary, or not by your calendar! I forget the stupidest things these days!! I blame it on pregnancy brain, only I'm not pregnant anymore, but I think my brain just stayed stupid sometimes. :)

  10. I'm with Genn. I became dumber after having kids. I think 2CoolBoy absorbed most of my brain power. I wouldn't know about the smart phone dilemma being that I'm the only one if the hood still using a regular old cell phone.

  11. Your pictures are great! And your words SO true! Why did they even start giving the option to check email and internet from your phone?
But like the girls are saying...I think it's our kids fault!
